Nanguanling Fm

Period:
Neoproterozoic

Age Interval:
Sinian (Ediacaran), Z (25)

Province:
Liaoning

Type Locality and Naming

Southern peninsula of Liaoning. The name Nanguanling Fm derived from the Nanguanling Stage named by Matsushita in 1931. The typical section is situated in Nanguanling between Dalian and Jinxian (Xintaizi to Chengshancun section) and the reference section is in Paoya to Yuanjiagou in Wafangdian City in Liaoning Province.

Synonym: (南关岭组)

Lithology and Thickness

The Nanguanling Fm is dominated by limestone and pelitic limestone. The basal part is black gray detrital limestone. Lower part is composed of gray to dark gray thin- to medium-bedded detrital limestone and calcisiltite. Upper part consists of dark gray medium-bedded calcisiltite, detrital limestone intercalated with stromatolite-bearing limestone. It is 145 to 192 m thick in Fuzhou, and 217 to 797 m thick in Luda area.

Lithology Pattern:
Limestone
